Melody woke up slowly, as if she had to swim through molasses. She was laying on something hard, and for some reason her neck, wrists, and ankles were cold.
She looked around the eerily pristine, gleaming metal room cautiously and quietly called, “Hello? Is anyone there?”
She stared at the mirror on the other side of the room.
At first, there was no answer. And then, after almost a full minute, a voice like nothing Melody had ever heard spoke, radiating from the ceiling.
Like the buzzing of a fly and the digital hum of an old dial-up modem, the voice said, “Undress.”
It was utterly impassive and cold.
“What?” Melody demanded, startled.
“No!”
There was no hesitation. As soon as the word left her lips, there was pain. Electricity lanced through her, coming from the cuffs and collars. Her back arched in agony and she screamed.
Her knees buckled and she spilled across the floor in a heap. And just like that, the pain stopped.
For a few seconds, she stayed on the ground, muscles still twitching. She pushed herself up with trembling arms until she was kneeling on the chilly floor.
She lifted her head to stare at the mirror.
“Remove your clothing,” the voice spoke again, still impassive and unchanged.

This stand alone, done in one quick read relies on solid characters who we get to know by their actions (some great moments are shown vs. told here) making this quick read more a page turner.There are times when some of these sub genres (like alien abduction romance) feel a bit one note, but this story dives deeper, takes some interesting perspectives, and leaves you with a story about human sex slaves that is well worth the time spent reading.
(I read Garon's story in the box set, where it was kind of in a second set of three books, but I think U read it "in order" for the series.)

Fantasic
Interesting story.
The writing is a bit weird, you don't tend to know who's talking because of paragraph inconsistencies.
Some incorrect words. Like using "lied down" instead of lay down or laid down.
J Sextons books put a new spin on the alien men of dreams and nightmares. A 'man' of conscience who is yummy too!
I liked Garon, he was sweet even if he was standoffish at first. Or I guess I should say quiet and didn't talk to her much. He did rescue her though. I enjoyed reading about Melody too...she was fiery and definitely a strong character. Enjoyed the book.
Awesome storyline that will make you crave for more. I think this is the second one in the alien romance series from this author and I’m starting to really like this series. Though short, the author chose to keep the readers hooked from the beginning by avoiding too many details about how Melody gets into the whole trouble of being abducted and then auctioned off by these ruthless aliens.
The pace is steady, not fast and the characters were properly introduced. Melody’s character was okay but it was Garon’s character that I particularly admired. The mysterious, handsome alien who was destined to be a part of Melody’s life. Glad I chose to share my opinion on this book in exchange of its arc.
Without giving away any spoilers, I would like to say that this was an engaging read with some really intimate and steamy romance scenes to keep the readers entertained.
